Leveraging the fundamentals of sustainable and passive solar home design and recipient of Arlington’s Green Home Choice Certification.

This addition/renovation of an existing Cape Cod-style home inverts the traditional plan arrangement to place the kitchen, living and dining at a new upper level. An elevated exterior porch overlooks the Arlington, Virginia neighborhood for this green and modern home design. The street façade of the new addition is rotated south to anticipate solar panels with a goal of achieving net-zero energy use. Exterior materials include rusted (Corten) steel siding and stucco.
