6,000 SF of roof gardens descend to the verdant courtyard. A LEED Silver certified building and paradigm for sustainable design—the project includes water collection, geothermal, green roofs and energy efficient envelope design.

Completed in 2005, the Bison Courtyard project in Banff, Alberta has been hailed as a “beautifully conceived and rendered building, regardless of its environmental and social agenda,” by local press. The 35,000 SF modern and green mixed-use project includes a mix of retail and commercial space, two restaurants, a bakery, hotel and condominium apartments. The project has become central to the life of the Banff community. Design direction provided by Allison Ewing, former Partner of William McDonough + Partners.
